Providing Solutions Since 1980

Solving Workplace Systems & Employee Challenges

Preston Wright has always been an outlier standing in the middle of the storm, quick to identify a problem and to offer unique perspective and solutions to the circumstances before him. Growing up in Kingsport, Tennessee, Preston always had a deep desire to understand people and to be of service. So, he went on to study human behavior at East Tennessee State University and received his Bachelor’s Degree in psychology. Determined to learn all that he could, he proceeded to Florida State University where he earned a Master’s Degree in clinical social work. He subsequently completed his PhD in psychology at the California International University in Los Angeles, CA.

Following graduation from Florida State University, he entered the U.S. Army Medical Service Corps, where he served as the Director of the mental health clinic at Fort Sam Houston in Texas.

  • Providing therapy for the enlisted soldiers who were being trained as medical technicians.
  • Consulting with military Commanders as they encountered mental health challenges with their soldiers.
  • Providing psychological services to soldiers experiencing significant adjustment problems, PTSD and other mental health issues.
After a year in this position, his efforts were rewarded by being selected by the Surgeon General’s Office to attend a two-year Post Graduate Fellowship at Walter Reed General Hospital in Washington, D.C. He was deeply humbled to be selected out of a group of four hundred officer candidates.

The fellowship program at Walter Reed was designed to train Army residents to provide training and consultation to mental health professionals in the teaching hospitals throughout the 6th Army Command.

Upon completion of this program, Preston was assigned to Letterman General Hospital in San Francisco, California, to teach advanced clinical and consultation skills necessary to provide optimal mental health services throughout the six teaching hospitals in the Sixth Army Command.

Upon exiting his military career, Preston went into private practice where he worked extensively with challenging cases, including severely traumatized patients. He also conducted advanced professional training programs at the Marin Psychotherapy Center in the Bay Area.

One of Preston’s most successful ventures was in the design of facilitation of a two-week intensive psychotherapy training process for two dozen military mental health professionals—a unique and powerful undertaking.

In the private sector, Preston has consulted with various organizations including a noteworthy experience following the 1989 earthquake in San Francisco. The devastation of the earthquake left many employees of a major law firm psychologically traumatized. Preston provided support and psychological intervention with the leadership, administrative personnel, and their attorneys. As a result, the staff individually and collectively were able to resolve their trauma and return to the supportive work that preceded the earthquake.

The breadth and depth of Preston’s professional training and experience uniquely allows him the capacity to consult with and support individuals, business owners and organizations in overcoming challenges with employees and management and internal conflict. He greatly enjoys helping individuals and organizations to overcome challenges that lead to the optimization of both people, products and services which leads to the greater productivity, well-being and profitably of the organization.
